Importing from SpreadsheetML (2003 XML format)

A nice way of creating spreadsheets would be to start with an XML document, run it through an XSL transform, and have that transformed data be something that can be parsed into a spreadsheet.

Generating XLSX style XML from XSL is clearly a non-starter. But the old 2003 SpreadsheetML format is perfectly achievable. The problem is that it's effort to convert SpreadsheetML to a useful spreadsheet; there's one tool I know of that does it, and that isn't cheap.

So, I've spent the morning making a start on a SpreadsheetML importer for EPPlus. You give it an XML file and it gives you an ExcelPackage back. To test it, I start with an XSLX spreadsheet created with Excel, saving it as "XML Spreadsheet 2003", and running it through the code to turn it back into XLSX, and making sure it looks the same.

I've got it doing all the bits that I need, which is a long way from 100% of what you can express, but enough to be useful.

Would anyone else like it? Should I contribute it to the project?
